Women’s Tennis Signs Big 12 Freshman of the Year Jennifer Jackson

TCU transfer strengthens Texas Tech's 2026-27 roster
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis program continues to bolster its 2026-27 roster with the addition of sophomore transfer Jennifer Jackson, head coach Adam Herendeen announced Thursday afternoon.
"Jennifer was the top recruit in the state of Texas and one of the top in the country out of high school and we recruited her hard out of high school. When she entered the transfer portal, we jumped at the opportunity to get her to Texas Tech," said Herendeen. "We are confident that Jennifer will have a big impact on our singles and doubles lineup right away and we are excited to help her continue to develop her game."
A native of Spicewood, Texas, Jackson arrives in Lubbock after a standout freshman season at TCU, where she compiled a 13-3 overall singles record, including a 12-3 mark during dual-match play. She primarily competed on courts four and five for the Horned Frogs throughout the season, including an impressive 7-1 mark on court No. 5.
Her remarkable debut campaign earned her the title of Big 12 Freshman of the Year after posting a 5-1 Big 12 singles record. Jackson closed the regular season on a seven-match conference winning streak from March 28 through April 18, remaining undefeated at the Big 12 Tournament.
Jackson also excelled in doubles competition, posting a 16-4 overall record during dual-match play. Primarily competing on court two, she recorded a 5-3 Big 12 doubles mark and earned All-Big 12 Second Team Doubles honors.
Her most notable stretch came during postseason play, when she delivered a perfect 6-0 performance across singles and doubles play at the 2026 Big 12 Tournament in Orlando, Fla. Her flawless performance earned her the Big 12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player award while helping lead TCU to its first-ever Big 12 Tournament championship.
Before beginning her collegiate career, Jackson was one of the nation's top recruits. Rated as a top ten prospect nationally in the Class of 2024 by TennisRecruiting.net, she was also ranked as the No. 1 player in Texas and received a five-star blue-chip designation.
Among her junior accomplishments, Jackson captured the 2022 USTA Texas Slam U16 Doubles title, adding to an already impressive résumé before arriving at the collegiate level.
