The television broadcast will feature play-by-play commentator Noah Reed and analyst Devin Gardner in the booth, while Josh Sims will be reporting from the sideline. In addition to traditional outlets, fans can access the game from their mobile or streaming device by using the FOX Sports app.
Texas Tech Sports Network will broadcast the game over-the-air across more than 20 affiliates throughout Texas and New Mexico, with Brian Jensen providing the call alongside analyst John Harris and sideline reporter Chris Level. MCGUIRE SEARCHING FOR WIN NO. 40
- Joey McGuire will be looking for his 40th win since becoming Texas Tech's head coach Saturday against the Buffaloes.
- McGuire, who is now 39-18 over his four-plus seasons, would become the first head coach in program history to reach his 40th win in 58 or fewer games with a win over Colorado, surpassing the previous record of the 60 games needed by Pete Cawthon (1930-40).
- McGuire's record includes a 25-12 mark against Big 12 opponents as he has rebuilt the Red Raiders into Big 12 and national contenders during his tenure.
TAKE THREE DEFENSE STARTING TO TAKE SHAPE
- Texas Tech "took three" for the first time this season against Sam Houston, creating three takeaways off a pair of pick-sixes from Austin Romaine and another interception from Peyton Morgan.
- The Red Raiders have now forced six turnovers this season, pushing their total under Joey McGuire to 96 takeaways, which ranks eighth among all FBS programs since 2022 and fifth among power conference schools.
- Texas Tech is a combined 32-3 during his tenure when either leading or finishing tied in the turnover margin.ย
RED RAIDERS IN THE POLLS
- Texas Tech stayed at No. 10 in the U.S. LBM coaches poll Sunday, while dropping one spot to No. 12 in the Associated Press rankings after the Red Raiders' 49-14 victory over Sam Houston. It is the highest ranking of the season for the Red Raiders, who began the year at No. 12 in both polls.ย
- This is the 22nd-consecutive week the Red Raiders have appeared in the Associated Press poll, the longest run in program history. The Red Raiders previously appeared in the Associated Press poll over 20-straight weeks during the course of the 2004-06 seasons. Texas Tech rose to as high as No. 10 during that stretch, which came midway through the 2005 campaign.ย
- Texas Tech's preseason ranking in both polls matched where the voters placed the Red Raiders in the Associated Press rankings prior to their memorable 2008 season. Texas Tech's highest-ever preseason ranking came in 1977 when the Red Raiders, coming off a 10-2 season under Steve Sloan, were No. 8 overall in the Associated Press poll.ย
ARE THE ROAD WOES CURED?ย
- Texas Tech went into the 2025 season looking to reverse its fortunes in road games from the start of Joey McGuire's tenure. The Red Raiders were a combined 6-10 in road games over his first three seasons before improving to 4-1 a year ago with the lone loss coming at Arizona State. Texas Tech was 4-10 in road games under McGuire until late in the 2024 season when the Red Raiders delivered November wins at both Iowa State and Oklahoma State.ย
- Since that Iowa State victory, the Red Raiders have now won seven of their last eight road games, which includes the non-conference win earlier this season at Oregon State. Texas Tech won four-straight Big 12 road games during that stretch, its longest such winning streak since joining the conference in 1996.ย
- The Red Raiders bounced back from the Arizona State loss to deliver a pair of convincing road wins to close the regular season. Texas Tech went on the road to top Kansas State, 43-20, for its first victory in Manhattan since 2008. The Red Raiders then shut out West Virginia, 49-0, in Morgantown to secure their spot in the Big 12 Championship.ย
INSIDE THE COLORADOย SERIESย
- This will be the 12th all-time meeting between Texas Tech and Colorado and the second since the Buffaloes rejoined the Big 12 Conference ahead of the 2024 season. Colorado knocked off the Red Raiders, 41-27, with FOX's Big Noon Kickoff in Lubbock late in the 2024 season, marking the first meeting between the two schools since 2010.ย
- The win improved Colorado to 6-5 all-time against the Red Raiders, which includes a 5-3 mark as Big 12 Conference members. Texas Tech and Colorado were charter members of the Big 12 until the Buffaloes departed for the Pac-12 Conference in 2011.ย
- Texas Tech was 3-4 against the Buffaloes during their first stint in the Big 12 with four of those games determined by only one possession. The home team won five of seven contests with the two exceptions being the last two meetings in the series. Colorado shocked the Red Raiders, 31-26, in Lubbock in 2007 before Texas Tech went to Boulder and delivered a 27-24 victory in 2010 behind a Matt Williams 36-yard field goal with 2:09 remaining in regulation.ย
- The 2010 win in Boulder is Texas Tech's only victory as the Red Raiders had previously dropped the other four meetings at Folsom Field. Of the five all-time meetings in Boulder, Colorado has won three of those by double digits with the lone exceptions being a 19-17 win in 1998 and then Texas Tech's victory in 2010.ย
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE LAST MATCHUP
- On Nov. 9, 2024, No. 21 Colorado overcame an early 13-0 deficit to defeat Texas Tech, 41-27, at what is now Galaxy Stadium in front of 60,229 fans.
- Shedeur Sanders completed 30 of 43 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for a score to lead the Buffaloes' comeback.
- Travis Hunter caught nine passes for 99 yards and a touchdown, while Will Sheppard and LaJohntay Wester also recorded touchdown receptions for Colorado.
- Tahj Brooks rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries, becoming Texas Tech's career rushing leader with 4,236 yards, at that time, surpassing Byron Hanspard's previous school record.
