August 06, 2026 | Women's Soccer
The Red Raiders exploded for four goals in the final 50 minute of the match
LUBBOCK, Texas – Four different players found the back of the net, including a pair of freshman, as No. 23/19 Texas Tech downed a feisty New Mexico squad, 4-1, in an exhibition contest at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
After a quiet first 40 minutes, Texas Tech exploded for a goal with less than 90 seconds to play in the first half and just 27 seconds into the second half to pull away from the game Lobos.
In her 2026 debut, Kylie Bahr assisted on the first two goals of the evening and helped anchor a Tech backline that held UNM to just three total shots in the first half and eight for the contest.
It was Bahr's picture-perfect cross that found senior Skylar Haase whose perfect header put the Red Raiders up 1-0 with just 82 seconds to play in the first half.
As has become a staple for the Red Raiders, Tech struck early in the second half, when sophomore Raleigh Greason zoomed past the Lobo defense after a strong feed from Bahr.
The Greason strike put Tech up 2-0.
After a screamer from UNMs Alyssa Whelchel cut the Tech lead to 2-1, freshman Diana Asta Gudmundsdottir buried a 1v1 chance to put the Red Raiders up by a pair. The opportunity was set
up by a perfect through ball from striker Taylor Zdrojewski.
Not satisfied, the Red Raiders put the capper on the night when freshman Mattie Neves also found the back of the net with less than five minutes to play.
In net, goalkeeper Addie Todd made four saves.
Tech attempted all five corners on the night and outshot UNM 11-8.
