Tech, Duke set for Madison Square Garden matchup

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech and Duke will square off in Madison Square Garden for the second straight season with a matchup on Monday, December 21 in New York City. The game will be streamed on Prime Video with the game time and ticket information to be announced at a later date.
The Red Raiders stormed back from a 17-point deficit last season to earn an 82-81 win over the No. 3-ranked Blue Devils on December 20, 2025. Duke leads the all-time series 2-1, including a 69-58 win over Tech on December 20, 2018 in the first matchup between the two programs at MSG. The Blue Devils also earned a win over Tech with a 78-73 victory in the 2022 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in San Francisco. Texas Tech will be playing at MSG for the 12th time in program history and has won three straight with wins over No. 1 Louisville (Nov. 10, 2019) and against No. 13 Tennessee (Dec. 7, 2021) before last year's victory over Duke.
Texas Tech's win over Duke last season was the first of three victories over a top-5 opponent during the season. The Red Raiders, who were ranked No. 19 at the time of beating Duke and remained ranked throughout the season, advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season under head coach Grant McCasland and finished the season with a 23-11 overall record. The win over Duke came with JT Toppin recording a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Christian Anderson went for 27 points and five assists. Toppin is set to return while Anderson was selected by the Charlotte Hornets in the first round of the NBA Draft following his sophomore season. The Red Raiders enter next season with a 74-31 record under McCasland who is entering his fourth season leading the program.
Duke started last season with an 11-0 record before falling to the Red Raiders in MSG. The Blue Devils won the ACC with a 17-1 conference record and finished the season with a 35-3 overall record after falling to UConn, 73-72, in the Elite Eight. Duke earned NCAA Tournament wins over Siena, TCU and St. John's before falling just short of advancing to Final Four for the 19th time in its program history. Duke head coach Jon Scheyer is entering his fifth season leading the program and is 124-25.
Texas Tech has previously announced it will compete in the Players Era Sixteen. The Red Raiders are scheduled to open the tournament in Las Vegas against Louisville on Tuesday, November 24 and will play either Oregon or St. John's in their second game. A third game with opponents to be determined by results will be on November 27 while owning a 3-0 record would give the Red Raiders an opportunity for a fourth game in Las Vegas in the Players Era Championship on November 28 at Michelob ULTRA Arena.
