Newcomer Q&A with Trey Hall
July 23, 2026 | Men's Basketball
LUBBOCK – A freshman who helped his team win the Texas Class 6A State Championship with a double-double in the title game last season, Trey Hall officially signed with Texas Tech on May 24 and joined the program in June for summer workouts. We sat down with Hall after a weight room session in mid-July to learn more about what makes him who he is and who he wants to become for the Red Raiders this season.
What do you bring to the team on and off the court?
"I bring energy and always want my teammates to be straight and good. I want to be that person who picks people up when they're down."
What do you want to develop the most in your game?
"I want to get stronger. That's my weakness right now. I'm going as hard as I can in the weight room every single day. Giving max effort."
What do you want your teammates and coaches to say about you?
"I'd want them to say that I'm the hardest worker they've ever seen. I give my all and do what they ask me to do. I hustle and go one step at a time."
How do you impact winning?
"Rebounding. My mom told me a long time ago that rebounding wins championships. Go get the ball. Snatch it and be selfish getting the ball. I think rebounding is one thing you can be selfish about."
Where did you develop a love for the game?
"I used to play football but my older brother used to talk to me about basketball all the time. We started playing NBA 2K a lot and my mindset started changing about the game. We would go outside and play basketball every day and night. I really started loving the game."
Who is the first person you'd call for advice or to share something good?
"I'd call my mom and then my dad. It's a great feeling knowing that I make them proud. It's a blessed feeling."
What standard have you set for yourself in your work ethic?
"My mindset is to fight adversity whenever it comes."
What is something off the basketball court that people don't know about you?
"I like to turn on music and dance. I like to do the 'bend' dance."
What do you want to embrace the most about playing at Texas Tech?
"I'm just excited to show what I can do and prove the coaches who believed in me right. My goal is to help this team win. I'm working on my strength and getting used to the college level."
