Red Raiders well represented on Phil Steele preseason teams
June 15, 2026 | Football
LUBBOCK, Texas āĀ Texas Tech football was well represented in this year's annual Phil Steele publication, which named seven Red Raiders to its Preseason All-America Team and 18 players, and 19 total selections, to its Preseason All-Big 12 Teams.
Leading the way on the All-America Team was first-team selection Terrance Carter Jr. (TE), while A.J. Holmes Jr. (DT), Ben Roberts (LB), Brice Pollock (CB) and J'Koby Williams (all-purpose) were named second-team selections, and Sheridan Wilson (C) and Stone Harrington (K) earned fourth-team honors. All seven selections are returning players from Texas Tech's 2025 Big 12 Championship team.
The seven preseason All-America selections are up from the two Red Raiders recognized by Phil Steele entering the 2025 season. Those honorees, Lee Hunter and Jacob Rodriguez, both went on to be selected in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Phil Steele, publisher of Phil Steele Magazine, is widely regarded as one of college football's premier analysts. His annual publication has long been deemed the "College Football Bible" by many within the sport.
The official Preseason All-Big 12 Team, as voted on by media members who regularly cover the conference, will be announced in advance of Big 12 Football Media Days, scheduled for July 7-8.
