NiJaree Canady named Co-Pitcher of the Year, Gerry Glasco Coach of the Year
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Big 12 announced its end of year awards for the 2026 season today which featured seven Red Raiders including NiJaree Canady who was named Co-Pitcher of the Year while Gerry Glasco was named Big 12 Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
Canady was joined by Jackie Lis, Kaitlyn Terry and Mia Williams as unanimous First Team All-Big 12 members while Jasmyn Burns, Mihyia Davis and Taylor Pannell made the second team. Canady and Pannell also made the All-Big 12 Defensive Team for pitcher and third base, respectively.
Canady joined Ruby Meylan as the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year after finished conference play with a 1.54 ERA, 11-2 record and 96 strikeouts through 68.1 innings of work. Opponents hit just .157 against her in Big 12 play as she helped Tech to another Big 12 Regular Season Title.
Lis, Terry and Williams all hit over .400 in Big 12 play with Lis leading the team with a .446 average and 10 home runs. Terry, along with her bat, is also 7-1 in the circle with a 1.66 ERA and 44 strikeouts to just eight walks through 46.1 innings of work. Williams is second on the team in home runs during Big 12 play with nine and leads the team with 30 hits.
Burns has come on strong over the last few weeks and is hitting .380 in conference with five home runs, three of which came last weekend against Baylor as she earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors. Davis and Pannell hit .329 and combined for nine home runs and 32 RBI in Big 12 play. Davis recorded seven steals and totaled 49 bases. Pannell recorded no errors in Big 12 play at third base, a feat not many infielders are able to accomplish.
Seven ties the number of student-athletes selected to the first and second teams last season and is tied for the most in the league this season with Arizona. Tech also had the most unanimous first team selections (4), no other team had more than one.
