Denisa Vodickova led the Red Raiders with a 1-over 73 in the first round. Starting on hole No. 10, Vodickova navigated an up-and-down opening nine that included three birdies, three pars and three bogeys to make the turn at even par. After a double bogey on the par-4 fourth hole pushed her to 2-over for the day, she responded with a birdie on her final hole to close at 1-over.
Maja Ambroziak and Lauren Zaretsky each followed one shot back at 2-over 74, while Klara Hurtova rounded out Texas Tech's counting scores with a 3-over 75 as the Red Raiders finished the day at 8-over as a team. Texas Tech's fifth player, Cameron Freund, shot 6-over 78.
Saturday's second round will feature reversed tee times, placing Texas Tech in the afternoon wave. The Red Raiders are scheduled to begin play at 1:40 p.m. PT, with the final golfer teeing off at 2:24 p.m. PT.
