NiJaree Canady earns third Big 12 weekly honor after eclipsing 1,000 strikeouts
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech's NiJaree Canady was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season after eclipsing 1,000 career strikeouts against BYU this past weekend.
Canady struck out 17 batters in 9.1 innings of work and allowed just one earned run. She also improved to 15-2 this after earning wins in games one and three of the BYU series. Canady struck out 11 in her complete game outing against the Cougars. She also threw one inning against Abilene Christian where she struck out all three batters she faced.
Canady and the No. 1 Red Raiders will be back in action this weekend beginning on Friday against Utah on the road.
