Texas Tech men win Sprint Medley Relay title

The sprint medley relay consists of 200m-200m-400m-800m legs
AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up day two of the 98th annual Texas Relays Friday evening at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The Tech men consisting of Jonathan Crawford, Josiyah Taylor, Josh Bour and Stephen Mutai combined for a winning time of 3:17.48 for the title. The quartet came up four seconds shy of the 2005 school record (3:13.06). The 1600m sprint medley relay (SMR) is made up of four legs – 200m-200m-400m-800m.
Meanwhile, the women's SMR team placed second with a time of 3:43.95 but in the process, set a new Tech record. The team was made up of Olayinka Olajide, Anita Afrifa, Mekenze Kelley and Fanny Arendt (outdoor debut). Tech record in 2005 was JaToya Moore, Shereefa Lloyd, Licretia Sibley and Althea Chambers.
Day two started in the morning with both Tech 4x100 relay teams winning its prelim heat. The women started off the blocks first with a time of 43.47. The team was comprised of Alyssa Colbert, Olajide, Afrifa and Brianna Howard (outdoor debut). About 20 minutes later, the men dropped a time of 39.37 thanks to the quartet of Malachi Snow (outdoor debut), Crawford, Taylor and Kamron Neal (outdoor debut).
Over in the hurdles, two Red Raiders book their spots to Saturday's final. Symoria Adkins won her heat at 12.99 (3.1), going under the 13 second mark for the second time this year. Meanwhile, Daniel Clarke won his heat at 13.81 (3.2w). In the 100m, Olajide finished sixth overall with a time of 11.13 (1.9) – No. 8 in TT – to secure her finals spot tomorrow.

·        Reggie Hays Johnson placed 3rd in the discus throwing 53.61m (175-10)
·        Leah Howard finished 6th in the javelin throwing 46.82m (153-7)
·        Tamiah Washington placed 2nd in the long jump with a mark of 6.38m (20-11 ¼)
·        McKenzie Davis finished 3rd in the discus throwing 53.70m (176-2)
·        Vanessa Balde placed 3rd in the 400m hurdles (56.02) as Lovina Ewusi placed 6th (57.15)
·        Sean Dixon placed 5th in the 400m hurdles (50.81)
