Red Raiders climb to sixth at Big 12 Championship

DALLAS — Texas Tech made the biggest move of the day on Friday, climbing three spots into sixth place after firing a 2-under 286 in the second round of the Big 12 Championship at Dallas Athletic Club.
The Red Raiders are 11-over 587 (301-286) through 36 holes after posting one of four under-par team rounds on the day. Their three-spot jump marked the largest move in the field.
Cameron Freund and Denisa Vodickova continue to lead Tech on the individual leaderboard, with the pair tied for 13th at 1-over 145 after matching rounds of 73 on Friday. The duo has carded identical scores through two rounds as both sit five shots off the lead.
Klara Hurtova delivered the low round of the day for the Red Raiders, bouncing back with a 3-under 69 after an opening-round 81, moving into a tie for 37th at 6-over 150. Lauren Zaretsky added Tech's second under-par round on Friday with a 1-under 71 and is tied for 29th at 4-over 148 after two rounds.
Freund (73), Vodickova (73), Hurtova (69) and Zaretsky (71) accounted for Texas Tech's four counting scores in the second round, fueling the climb up the leaderboard.
Houston leads the team standings at 4-under 572, followed by UCF at even par. Freund and Vodickova trail the individual leaders, Oklahoma State's Ellie Bushnell and Arizona State's Patience Rhodes, who are tied at 4-under.
The final round of the Big 12 Championship begins Saturday at 8 a.m. CT, with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
