Red Raiders wrap up weekend at ACU

Tech will host its first outdoor home meet of the year next weekend
ABILENE, Texas – The Texas Tech outdoor track and field team wrapped up its first outdoor meet of the season competing in the 12th-annual Wes Kittley Invitational Saturday afternoon at Elmer Gray Stadium.

 Friday
Only a limited number of Tech athletes competed on the first day of competition. The women's javelin saw junior Leah Howard start the season with a win as she threw 44.70m (146-8). Meanwhile, in the women's discus, McKenzie Davis (52.33m/171-8) and Amori Pierson (50.07m/164-3) finished first and second, respectively.
Saturday
Three Red Raiders finished inside the top 5 of the women's pole vault led by Kashlee Dickinson who cleared 4.10m (13-5 ¼). Kaylee Hunt placed third clearing 3.65m (11-11 ¾) as Kacie Whitten finished fifth at 3.50m (11-0 ¾).
Newcomer Sean Dixon made his Red Raider debut. Dixon, the 2025 NCAA DII champion in the 400m hurdles, opened his season in the event placing second with a time of 51.26. On the women's side, Savanna Camacho (1:04.04) and Brooklyn Kinsey (1:05.64) finished fourth and sixth, respectively.
Kyzer Dunbar, the co-school record holder in the 600yd, claimed the win in the 800m going 1:49.64. In the pole vault, Sam Hurley placed second with an outdoor PB mark of 5.36m (17-7). Jackson Bragg took home third clearing 5.18m (7-0).
Trey Wilson won the men's shot put throwing 17.76m (58-3 ¼). For the women, Pierson won with a mark of 16.25m (53-3 ¾). Davis threw 14.13m (46-4 ¼) to place second.
