Texas Tech enters its second top-25 matchup of the season ranked as high as No. 13 by the Associated Press
LUBBOCK, Texas โ Texas Tech dropped a few spots in the national rankings Sunday, falling to No. 13 in the Associated Press poll and No. 14 in the U.S. LBM coaches poll after the Red Raiders' first loss of the season at Cincinnati.
Even with their first loss of the season, the Red Raiders (6-1, 3-1 in Big 12) are still in the hunt for another Big 12 Championship appearance and College Football Playoff berth. The Red Raiders are currently behind undefeated Utah in a four-way tie for second in the Big 12 standings alongside Arizona (6-1, 3-1), BYU (6-1, 3-1) and Oklahoma State (5-2, 3-1).
Texas Tech will face two of those schools over the final five-game stretch, beginning Saturday at home versus Arizona and then a few weeks later at Oklahoma State on Nov. 14. West Virginia (5-3, 2-3) follows Arizona by visiting Galaxy Stadium on Nov. 7, while Texas Tech will close the regular season at Baylor (4-3, 2-2) on Nov. 21 and then back at home Nov. 26 for a Thanksgiving Night matchup with TCU (3-4, 1-3).
Utah (7-0, 4-0) is now the highest-ranked Big 12 program this week after handing Houston its second loss of the season Saturday night. Utah, which came in at No. 6 in the Associated Press poll and No. 5 in the coaches version, is joined inside the top 10 by BYU (No. 9/8). The two Utah schools are followed by the Red Raiders (No. 13/14), Houston (No. 18/19), Arizona (No. 22/21) and Oklahoma State (No. 24/NR), giving the Big 12 six ranked schools for the first time since 2012.
The Red Raiders have now been ranked in the polls over 26-consecutive weeks dating back to the start of the 2025 season, their longest streak in school history. Texas Tech will host Arizona in its second top-25 matchup this season after previously topping then-No. 22 Houston, 28-26, to open Big 12 play. The Red Raiders are a perfect 3-0 in top-25 matchups under Joey McGuire entering this week.
Kickoff between the Red Raiders and Wildcats is slated for 11 a.m. CT Saturday on ESPN. Limited tickets still remain and can be purchased by visiting the online ticket portal here at TexasTech.com or by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 806-742-TECH during normal business hours.
