First touch from the Aggie Soccer Complex is set for 8 p.m. (CT)/7 p.m. (MT).
In a stretch where they will play just four times in the next four weeks, the Red Raiders will look to defeat the Aggie for the fourth straight time in the all-time series.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
MATCHUP: Texas Tech (4-1-0) at New Mexico State (1-5-0)
DATE: Sept. 4, 2025
TIME: 8 p.m. (CT)/7 p.m. (MT)
LOCATION: Las Cruces, N.M. (Aggie Soccer Complex)
BY THE NUMBERS:
7: Through just five matches of the 2025 season, the Red Raiders have boasted one of the deepest attacks of recent memory, as seven different Red Raiders have found the back of the net. Junior Taylor Zdrojewski has scored four times this season while senior Peyton Parsons and redshirt sophomore Sam Courtwright have score twice.
2: While putting the ball in the back of the net is the name of the game, scoring twice has been critical for the Red Raiders success as since the start of the 2022 season, the Red Raiders are now 38-0-1 (lone tie at No. 7 BYU in 2023) when scoring two goals. When you expand that mark out to the beginning of the 2021 season, Tech is 47-2-1 when scoring twice in a match.
27: Fresh off her second Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award after scoring and assisting on a goal in the Red Raiders 2-0 win over SMU, the Red Raiders improved to 27-1-1 when Blackburn records at least one assist in a contest. The lone loss for the Red Raiders in that span was last years 2-1 heartbreaking loss to BYU in the season finale. Blackburn recorded her fourth all-time match with a goal and an assist all-time.
QUICK KICKS:
• Fresh off a 4-1 start during the month of August, Texas Tech Soccer opens the month of September on the road Thursday night when it makes the trip west to take on New Mexico State for the back-end of a home-and-home series that agreed upon prior to the start of the 2023 season.
• As part of the home-and-home, Texas Tech and NM State met in Lubbock for what turned out to be a 5-0 Texas Tech win. In that game, the Red Raiders got two goals a piece from Ashleigh Williams and Alex Kerr as well as PK goal from defender Hannah Anderson.
• The Red Raiders scored three times in the first half and five times in the matches first 60 minutes. In that game, defender Macy Blackburn recorded a pair of assists. Making the trip to Las Cruces for the first time in program history on Thursday night, the Red Raiders will look to build upon a very successful run in the month of September the last two seasons that has seen the Red Raiders go an identical 6-0-1 in the seasons second month.
• As a matter of fact when you expand that streak to include a draw against Oklahoma State in 2022, that mark expands to 12-0-3 meaning the Red Raiders are now unbeaten in 15-straight September matches.
• After a pair of two-match weekends to open the 2025 season, the Red Raiders have reached a slow down of sorts in the schedule as dating back to the SMU match last Thursday night, the Red Raiders will play just a singular match in four-straight weeks.
• Following this weeks match against NMSU the Red Raiders wont next play until Sept. 14 against Utah State before the Big 12 opener arrives on Friday, Sept. 19 at Baylor. The Red Raiders next full two-game week is not until Sept. 25th and 28th when the Red Raiders play host to UH before heading to Iowa State.
• When you expand it out the Red Raiders will play just four matches in 31 days (Aug. 25-Sept. 24). Continuing to cement her status as the best player (regardless of position) in the country, and the nation's best wide back, fifth-year senior Macy Blackburn continues to impress in 2025 as through the first five matches of the season Blackburn has scored a goal and recorded five helpers.
• The all-time leader in program history in assists with 38, Blackburn recorded her fifth career goal with a goal and an assist in the Red Raiders 2-0 win over SMU. Her three-point performance was her second this season (SDSU, 3A) and led to her second Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor of the young season. Thursday's match will be a bit of a homecoming match for Texas Tech Goalkeeper Coach and assistant Blair Quinn, as Quinn spent three seasons as the head coach of the Aggies from 2011-2013. Quinn ironically faced Stone and the Red Raiders twice as the head man in Cruces, falling by scores of 1-0 (2011) and 5-0 (2012) to Stone and Tech.
