Volleyball bounces back with sweep over FAU
August 29, 2025 | Women's Volleyball
BOCA RATON, Florida – Texas Tech volleyball bounced back in a big way on Friday night as they took down FAU in straight sets after falling to Western Carolina earlier in the day. The Red Raiders (1-1) were again led by Reagan Engler who put up another offensive clinic as Peyton Dunn also made a big impact, picking up her first double-double of the season.
The Red Raiders offense again spread the love as Addie Kanouff notched seven kills, Ashlyn Bellamy with six, Aliyah McDonald with five and Tatum Johnson with four. Johnson, Kanouff and McDonald all added four blocks to their stat line as well.
Johnson was a big addition to the lineup, not just for her play but the energy she brought was infectious and kept the Red Raiders up emotionally.
Sierra Grizzle held down the back row with 13 digs as Dunn added 11 digs to go along with her 31 assists. The Red Raiders now have 12 aces through two matches as they look to control the serve-receive aspect of the game.

How it happened:
- The Red Raiders earned their first sweep of the season on the back of long rallies and timely points. No set was decided by more than four points, and it felt that close throughout. Tech was able to do something that they struggled with last year – closing out close sets.
- The second set was highlighted by a lengthy delay following an alleged rotation dispute that did not go in favor of the Red Raiders. FAU had a 22-19 lead, but Tech used the decision as fuel and went on a commanding 4-0 run as they went on to win 27-25.
- Tech led the entire third set and did a great job of countering FAU runs with big and timely points to calm the Owls momentum. The Red Raiders held on and secured a nice first win of the season.
