Tech women complete their week in College Station

The women wrapped up their two days of competition Saturday night
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas Tech women's track and field team completed day four and the final day of the NCAA West First Round Championships Saturday evening at E.B. Cushing Stadium.

Women's triple jump punched two tickets early on Saturday afternoon. Victoria Gorlova placed second overall losing the top spot by one centimeter as she leaped a PB 13.99m (45-10 ¾) (1.8w) – No. 3 in Tech history. Meanwhile, the NCAA indoor national runner-up, Tamiah Washington finished sixth with a mark of 13.54m (44-5 ½) (2.8w) – she jumped into the top-12 on her final attempt.
In the discus, Shelby Frank and Zoe Burleson each moved on. Frank threw 61.23m (200-10) placing second as Burleson heaved it 55.47m (182-10) to finish eighth.
Temitope Adeshina heads back to Eugene where she placed third a year ago, finishing tied first Saturday clearing 1.84m (6- ½). Over in the 100m hurdles, two Red Raiders moved on. Destiny Smith clocked in at 13.01 for a new PB, while Tonie-Ann Forbes came in at 13.11.
Fanny Arendt was the final Red Raider on the track to punch her ticket. Arendt won her heat with a time of 2:02.63 – ninth overall.

The Red Raiders will have the upcoming week off before traveling to Eugene, Ore., for the national championships taking place at Historic Hayward Field June 11-14.
