Cheruiyot claims bronze medal in 10k race Wednesday night

The sophomore finishes as a First Team All-American for the second-straight year
EUGENE, Ore. – Ernest Cheruiyot finished third in the 10k race running a time of 29:10.37 to highlight the first day of the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships Wednesday evening at Hayward Field.

Cheruiyot scored the first points of the meet this week for Tech with his third-place outing. He finishes as a First Team All-American for a second-straight season as he finished fourth last season. Cheruiyot entered the championship ranked fifth in the event.
Desean Boyce was the first Red Raider to punch his ticket to Friday's final as he finished second in his 400m heat with a time of 45.15 for the auto-bid. His time goes down as No. 8 in school history. Shaemar Uter placed 13th overall with a time of 45.62.
Oskar Edlund secured his spot in Friday's final placing second in his heat with a time of 49.66. Mario Paul, who was in the first heat, posted a time of 50.56 to finish 13th.
