Tech will take on BYU in regular season finale
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 11 Red Raiders (40-11, 18-3) will travel to Provo to take on BYU (30-14, 12-9) in both team's regular season finales. All games will have a start time of 6 p.m. with Saturday's game being broadcast on ESPNU.
Tech took down ACU 9-0 in five innings yesterday as they broke the program record for shutout wins with 20 and recorded its 40th win of the season for the fourth time in program history. The Cougars have gone 2-2 in their last four Big 12 series as they dropped the series last weekend to Baylor 2-1 but before that swept in-state rival Utah.
BYU has one of the best offenses in the Big 12 as they've slugged 74 homers this year and have three players with double digit home runs. Tech's pitching is the best in the conference, boasting a 1.57 ERA through Big 12 play.

- The Red Raiders their first ever Big 12 regular season title this past weekend after taking down Arizona State in their seventh-straight Big 12 series win of the season. Tech recorded its 40th win of the season for the fourth time in program history. Tech also set a new program record with its 20th shutout of the season.
- NiJaree Canady is still at the top of her game. She boasts a 0.88 ERA and is 21-5 on the season including a 14-2 record in Big 12 play. Canady was again named the No. 1 pitcher in the country by Softball America for the month of May after being No. 1 in April and being the No. 1 Two-Way Player in the country back in March. Canady was also recently named a top 25 finalist for national POTY.
- Senior outfielder Demi Elder has been a huge lift for the Red Raiders offense since returning to the starting lineup. Since Elder's return the team is 17-2 and she has reached base safely in 18 of those 19 games while batting .370 so far this season.
- Tech's defense has settled in nicely since Big 12 play and lead the conference with a .982 fielding percentage in conference play. Tech also leads the Big 12 in batting average (.327) and ERA (1.57) in Big 12 play.
- Tech is 4-2 against BYU all-time including a 2-1 series win over them last season in Provo.
- Tech put up 10 runs in the fourth inning of game one against the Cougars last year as they opened up Big 12 play in Provo.
