Tech defeats ACU 7-3 on Wednesday night
ABILENE, Texas – The No. 14 Red Raiders (28-9, 8-1) took care of business in Abilene on Wednesday night, defeating the Wildcats (9-27, 5-7) 7-3 at Poly Wells field in front of a record crowd.
Samantha Lincoln improved to 7-2 on the year after throwing 5.0 innings, striking out four batters and allowing just one earned run. Chloe Riassetto also helped out, tossing 2.0 innings and allowing just two earned runs while striking out a pair of batters.
Alexa Langeliers celebrated her birthday with a three-run homer in the first inning to open things up and helped the Red Raiders improve to 19-0 on the year when scoring in the first inning.
Tech added another run in the third inning after Langeliers stole second which allowed Allred to cross home as she went on the throw. That wasn't the only havoc the Red Raiders caused on the bases as Mihyia Davis recorded her 19th stolen base of the season and then the next pitch stole base number 20 and then crossed on an errant throw down to third to try and get her to give Tech a 5-1 lead in the seventh.
Makayla Garcia picked up an RBI on a ball in play with the bases loaded as Demi Elder continues to impress knocking in a run with a single into left field.
Allred, Langeliers, Elder and Hailey Toney all recorded two hits on a night when Tech found different ways to get runs across.
The Wildcats added two runs in the bottom of the seventh via the long ball but wouldn't add anymore than that as Tech picked up its 28th win of the season.
UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will host Utah this weekend in a return to Rocky Johnson Field where they will play three of their next four series.
