
No. 14 Red Raiders host Houston this weekend

Tech set for three-game series against Big 12 foe Houston
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 14 Red Raiders (31-9, 11-1) play host to Houston (20-16, 3-10) this weekend beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday with game two being at 4 p.m. Saturday and the final game starting at noon on Sunday at Rocky Johnson Field. The Red Raiders are 11-1 at home this season and will look to improve upon that record this weekend.
Tech is coming off its third Big 12 series sweep, taking down Utah last weekend. Tech eclipsed 30 wins for the 13th time in program history and 10 Big 12 wins for the fourth time in the team's history. Tech's 11 Big 12 wins are the second most in the program's history behind the 2012 season when they recorded 13 conference wins.
Houston was swept by Baylor last weekend but has a formidable offense that is batting .293 on the season with 26 home runs and 196 RBI. The Cougars have good plate discipline as well, as they've drawn 211 walks this year, most in the country.

- The Red Raiders earned their third Big 12 series sweep of the season last weekend as they defeated Utah in Lubbock. Tech is now up to 11 Big 12 wins which is second in program history behind their 13 wins in 2012. The Red Raider are ranked 1st in the Big 12 in batting average, ERA and fielding percentage in Big 12 play.
- NiJaree Canady was again tremendous and earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season. Canady went a perfect 3-0 in the circle allowing just one run while striking out 22 batters through 17.0 innings of work. Canady also made her way back to the batter's box where she recorded a single in the third game of the series.
- Mihyia Davis had a strong series for Tech. The electric outfielder made a couple of great plays in the outfield and hit .600 with a team-high 12 total bases and 4 RBI against the Utes including the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning.
- Tech's defense has settled in nicely over the past few weeks. The Red Raiders had no errors all weekend and have brought their fielding percentage up to .980 in conference play, which is the highest in the league. The Red Raiders have also turned 22 double plays this season which is good for 8th best in the country.
- The Cougars lead the series 6-5 all time.
- Tech has won 3 of the last 5 meetings including a 2-1 series in last season.
- Senior Demi Elder has returned from injury and started in the last 8 games for the Red Raiders. During that time, Tech is 8-0 and she has reached base safely in every contest. Elder has played a great left field and is hitting .409 over this stretch with 7 RBI.
- Texas Tech partnered with its website provider - SideArm - to create a promotional website featuring the superstar pitcher. It holds host to all of Canady's accolades and stats as she continues her incredible career.
- The Red Raiders have tied two records this season, winning six Big 12 games on the road (set in 2001) and have won six consecutive Big 12 games at home (set in 2008). The Red Raiders six consecutive Big 12 road wins is a new school record.
- Tech's pitching staff has recorded 16 shutouts this season and are on pace to beat the school record of 19 set back in 1998.
- Mihyia Davis has a career-high five triples this season which also ranks second in school history.
- NiJaree Canady's 185 strikeouts this season ranks fifth best in program history only behind Red Raider legend Amanda Renfro who holds the top four spots. Canady's 15 wins in the circle this season also puts her in the top 10 in program history.
