The Midland College transfer went six shutout innings, struck out nine and allowed just two hits
After going 11-2 with seven complete games a season ago for Midland College, Boudreau was the star of the day for Texas Tech (3-8). as the righty retired the first 11 batters he faced and 13 of the first 14 on the day.
Boudreau, who was perfect through his first 3.2 innings and did not allow a hit until a two-out single in the fifth, struck out nine over his six innings of work and allowed just one free pass. Boudreau became the first Red Raider since Kyle Robinson last May the 11th against Oklahoma State to strike out nine batters in a game.
Striking out four of the six batters he faced and five of the first eight, Boudreau needed just 84 pitches in his gem on Wednesday.
With their Canadian righty dealing, the Red Raider bats stayed hot, as Tech scored in the final seven innings of the game, had 15 hits and walked 12 times.
Following a pair of productive outs, a bases loaded walk and a wild pitch gave Tech a 4-0 lead after four, Boudreau became the first Tech starting pitcher this season to reach the fifth when he faced UC San Diego's (8-5) Michael Crossland.
After getting Crossland to ground out and striking out UCSD catcher Emiliano Gonzalez, Boudreau allowed a lazy two out single to the next batter he faced. The hit was the first for the Tritons on the afternoon.
With a runner on base for just the second time all day, Boudreau fell behind in the count, 2-1, before coaxing a ground ball deep into the hole at second.
Red Raider second baseman Antonelli Savaterre ranged far to his left, fielded the ball cleanly and uncorked a perfect throw toward the first base bag that Boudreau snagged for the innings final out.
After a pair of singles placed runners on the corners with two outs for Pompey, the infielder uncorked a 98 MPH rocket through the left side that plated Villeneuve for the sixth run of the night.
Following a two-out walk to shortstop Tracer Lopez loaded the bases, outfielder Kyeler Thompson beat out an infield single that plated designated hitter Davis Rivers.
Armed with a 6-0 lead and with his pitch count exceeding 70, Boudreau recorded a pair of outs before a four-pitch walk placed a pair of runners on base.
One out from getting through the six, Boudreau coaxed a lazy ground ball to Villeneuve, who raced to the bag for the third and final out.
After an RBI grounder off the bat off Logan Hughes gave Tech a 7-0 lead, the Red Raiders turned to reliever JT Drake.
Drake allowed a one-out home run to Gonzalez and allowed a pair of one out base runners before using two of the 12 punchouts for the Red Raiders on the day to hang a zero.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Red Raiders blew the game open for good, when Robin Villeneuve blasted his second home run of the season in the seventh. The ball left the bat at 109 MPH and traveled 424-feet.
After a lead-off 436-foot home run off the bat off Pompey, a one out double by Damian Bravo and another RBI ground out from Hughes gave the Red Raiders a 13-1 lead, reliever Logan Bevis pitched two scoreless innings to snap the Red Raiders three-game losing streak.
