The Red Raiders get shutout against No. 10/11 South Carolina
COLUMBIA, South Carolina – A solo home run in the third inning by No. 10/11 South Carolina proved to be the difference as both teams combined for five hits. The Gamecocks (24-5, 2-4) clinched the series with a 1-0 victory over the No. 12 Red Raiders (23-9, 5-1) on Saturday evening.
NiJaree Canady made just one mistake during her otherwise impressive complete game outing. Canady gave up just two hits and allowed her first home run of the season while striking out nine batters. Canady falls to 10-4 on the year but her ERA remains otherworldly sitting at 0.65 for the season.
This was Canady's fifth game allowing three or less hits and eighth game allowing one or less earned runs as she brought her strikeout total to 133 on the season, needing just two more to enter the programs top 10 single season strikeout list.
Mihyia Davis led off the game with a single for Tech but that was one of just three hits for them, Kiley Huffman and Alexa Langeliers recorded the other two.
The Red Raiders defense was solid as they recorded their second straight game without an error.
UP NEXT: Tech will face the Gamecocks in the series finale tomorrow at 11 a.m. CT.
