
No. 12 Red Raiders set for No. 10/11 South Carolina series

Tech to play three-game series against the Gamecocks this weekend in Columbia
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 12 Red Raiders (23-7, 5-1) will take a break from Big 12 play this weekend as they travel to Columbia to take on No. 10/11 South Carolina (22-5, 2-4) in a three-game series beginning at 5 p.m. CT on Friday. Following game one, Tech will face the Gamecocks at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday and 11 a.m. CT on Sunday.
Tech is coming off its first Big 12 series sweep since 2019 and are off to its best ever start in conference play. South Carolina is coming off a big weekend as well as they defeated Georgia for its first SEC series win of the season.

- NiJaree Canady earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors for her incredible performance in the circle against the Bears. Canady threw two complete games and finished the weekend allowing 0 ER while racking up 18 SO and walking just two batters. Canady is now 10-3 on the year with 124 SO and a 0.62 ERA - her ERA is good for second best in the country.
- Tech got its 13th and 14th shutout victories of the season and reÂmain No. 1 in the country in that category. Chloe Riassetto and NiJaÂree Canady again combined to shutout the opponent's offense again as Tech has won four of its five conference games via shutout.
- Alana Johnson made a big impact in her first Big 12 series. The junior hit two home runs and hit .500 while driving in three runs and leading the team with 10 total bases. Johnson also slugged 1.250 for the weekend and stole two bases to set a career-high for stolen bases in a season (6).
- The Red Raiders lead the series 3-0 all time.
- They faced off twice in 1999 in Fresno State's Regional and again in 2020 all three meetings were at a neutral site.
- Tech is 4-5 against top 25 opponents so far this season.
