Tech gets seven hits but Gamecocks able to capitalize with timely hits
COLUMBIA, South Carolina – No. 12 Tech picked up six hits and got two runs across, but No. 10/11 South Carolina's offense used a three-run fifth inning to take game one of the three game series 5-2 on Friday night.
Alexa Langeliers went 2-for-3 at the plate and Lauren Allred knocked in two runs with a double, but the Red Raiders (23-8, 5-1) weren't able to get anything else across against the Gamecocks (24-5, 2-4) who used the arms of Jori Heard and Sam Gress to secure the win.
Chloe Riassetto was a late add to the starting lineup as she got the call to the circle to start the game. The junior is now 5-2 on the season and remains solid in the ERA department, posting a 2.49 for the season.
Mihyia Davis, Hailey Toney, Alana Johnson and Kiley Huffman also picked up hits for the Red Raiders but couldn't string them together at the right time.
UP NEXT: Tech will face the Gamecocks in game two of this series tomorrow at 2 p.m. CT.
