Tech defeated Miners 6-1 in Monday's matinee
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 12 Red Raiders ended their weekend at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic a perfect 7-0 after defeating UTEP (9-5) 6-1 on Monday afternoon.
Freshman catcher Anya German shined for Tech, going 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI thanks to a double in the second inning.
Lauren Allred continued her impressive stretch of play, picking up an RBI in the first inning on a single through the left side after Mihyia Davis stole second and advanced to third on a sac bunt.
Allred came around to score later in the inning as Alana Johnson forced a UTEP error to give Tech a 2-0 lead after one.
Bailey Lindemuth was again efficient in the circle, needing just six pitches in the first inning and eight in the second inning. In total, she would throw just 34 pitches in 4.0 innings of work allowing just one run.
Chloe Riassetto went 2.0 innings allowing just one hit as Samantha Lincoln came in to close out the game in the seventh inning and also allowed just one hit.
UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will head back onto the road this week as they face North Texas on Wednesday before traveling to College Station to play in Texas A&M's tournament over the weekend.
