Tech run rules UIC, Indiana as they improve to 4-0 on the weekend

Tech shuts out (RV) Indiana as offense continues to find its groove
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 12 Red Raiders offense continued to produce on day two of the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic as they defeated UIC (4-8) 15-6 before taking down (RV) Indiana (10-2) 8-0, both games ended in five innings.
Tech (12-3) got out to a hot start as they batted around the order in the first inning of both contests and had an 8-0 lead after the second inning in both games.
In game one, Samantha Lincoln picked up her third win of the season in the circle as she threw 3.1 innings with four strikeouts and allowing three runs.
Mihyia Davis and NiJaree Canady went a combined 7-for-7 at the plate with Canady bringing home two runs. Alexa Langeliers joined the home run club, blasting a three-run shot to left field.
The Flames ruined Tech's three-game shutout streak with a five-run fourth inning, but the Red Raiders rebounded quickly against the Hoosiers.
Tech opened up the scoring with a sacrifice fly from Lauren Allred. The Red Raiders were able to load the bases after that which set up an Alana Johnson grand slam as she crushed a ball 288 feet over the left field fence to put Tech up 6-0 after the first inning.
NiJaree Canady, who picked up her fifth win of the season in the circle, launched a two-run homer the next inning to dead center to help her own cause. Canady went on strikeout nine of the final 11 Hoosiers she faced as Tech got its third run-rule victory of the weekend.
NOTABLES:
Tech (12-3) came into the weekend having hit just two home runs and have cranked nine out of the park this weekend.
Canady has now reached safely in 13 consecutive games after going a combined 4-for-5 today.
Hailey Toney had another solid day, going 2-for-4 in game one and 2-for-2 in the second game. Lauren Allred also added three RBI in total, going 2-for-2 in game one. Victoria Valdez went 1-for-2 with three RBI in game one as Bailey Lindemuth also added two RBI.
In their 110 at bats so far this weekend, Tech has struck out only twice.
