Bristow named to the Big 12 Starting Five honor

LUBBOCK, Texas – Junior Jalynn Bristow had a career week, helping the Texas Tech Lady Raiders go 3-0 as she was selected for the first Big 12 Starting Five honor, which highlights other strong performances from across the league as voted on by a panel of media members who cover Big 12 basketball.
This is Bristow's first career Big 12 weekly award and the first weekly conference honor for the Lady Raiders since Jasmine Shavers was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week on Jan. 16, 2023.
The Holliday, Texas native began the season with a career-night against North Carolina A&T. She posted career-bests in points (19), blocks (7), rebounds (9), field goals (7) and field goal attempts (13) en route to a 78-40 win over the Aggies. In the game, she added two 3-pointers and was a perfect 3-for-3 at the free throw line. She led the Lady Raiders in points, blocks, rebounds and field goals.
In the second game of the week against UTSA, Bristow recorded 10 points, two steals and two assists and led the team with seven rebounds to aid Tech to a 79-52 victory. She once again had a career day against Texas State after tallying career-highs in points (22), field goals (9), field goal attempts (17) and steals (3). She also added six rebounds and three blocks in the 83-50 win.
In the national rankings, Bristow currently checks in at fourth in blocks, 17th in blocks per game (3.33), 19th in field goal attempts (43), 20th in field goals (20) and 31st in points (51). Her 10 blocks also rank first in the Big 12. Bristow ties for the team lead with 17 points per game, while solely leading in blocks, rebounds (22) and rebounds per game (7.3). In addition, she is shooting 46.5 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from the 3-point line.
