November 07, 2025 | Women's Basketball
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders host the Texas State Bobcats for a game on Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena. Tech leads the all-time series against Texas State with a 14-1 record, winning its last matchup on Nov. 22, 2021 at home by an 83-57 score.
Texas Tech (2-0) is currently first in the Big 12 and 25th nationally in FG percentage defense, holding opponents to just 24 percent from the field. The Lady Raiders are also 23rd in blocks per game (7.0), 57th in scoring defense and 75th in turnovers forced per game (24.50). In addition, Tech is holding teams to .146 shooting from behind the arc, which is 36th in the nation and first in conference. In the first two games, the Lady Raiders have held both opponents to under 15 field goals made and under 27 percent shooting. Also, UTSA had four players with six turnovers in the game on Thursday, the first time this has happened in at least the last 10 seasons.
After almost recording a triple-double in the season opener, senior Bailey Maupin tallied her second game of the year, and 11th consecutive game dating back to last season, with double-figure scoring. Against UTSA, Maupin scored a team-best 19 points and shot 6-for-11 (.545) from the field while making a team-high three 3-pointers. Her 11 points in the fourth quarter against the Roadrunners propelled the Lady Raiders to a 2-0 record. Maupin's 1,337 career points surpassed Head Coach Krista Gerlich in the record book as Maupin now ranks 14th in scoring.
Senior Snudda Collins has made an immediate impact for the Lady Raiders, coming off the bench and becoming the leading scorer on the team after the first two games. Her 15.5 points per game is a team-best as she posted back-to-back contests in double-figures with 15 against NC A&T and 16 against UTSA. In just 23.1 minutes played per game, she has shot 40.7 percent from the field (11-for-27), tying the Lady Raiders for the team lead in field goals. She also led the team in 3-pointers against the Roadrunners with a 3-for-6 clip from behind the arc. Collins is one of three transfers, alongside Grace Booth of Houston Christian and Ivory Finley of Pepperdine, to average at least 15.5 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game this year so far. She currently ranks 29th nationally and third in the Big 12 with 29 field goal attempts and 53rd in the country in points with 31.
