AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 7 Texas Tech baseball team gave up four unanswered runs to allow No. 10 Texas to take a 4-3 victory in the Big 12 opener Friday night at Disch-Falk Field.

The Red Raiders (11-4, 0-1) held a 3-0 lead through four innings, but the Longhorns (14-6, 1-0) took advantage of a pair of Tech miscues in the sixth to take the lead and go on to the win.

The Texas bullpen handcuffed the Red Raider lineup as Tech failed to get a runner aboard over the finale four innings. Ty Madden (3-0) got the win for the Longhorns, while Kamron Fields tossed a three-inning save with five strikeouts.

On the flip side, Tech retired the Longhorns in order through the first four innings of the contest. Junior starter Erikson Lanning cruised through the first three innings and allowed his first hit in the fourth before erasing the runner with a double play. He exited after the fifth, giving up just one run on three hits.

The Longhorns went on top in the sixth after hitting a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded to cut the lead to 3-2. With runners on second and third and two outs, an error at third base allowed the go-ahead run to score.

Junior Dane Haveman (1-1) received the loss, while Micah Dallas closed out the game and posted three strikeouts over the final 2.1 frames.

Senior Cameron Warren led the Red Raiders at the dish, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. He has recorded three hits in consecutive games, multiple RBI in four of the last five and now owns a six-game hitting streak.

Sophomore Gabe Holt went 2-for-5 to set a career high with his 30^th-consecutive game reaching base safely. He's the first Red Raider to reach base safely for 30 straight games since Tyler Neslony in 2014.

The Red Raiders, who outhit the Longhorns 7-5, did all of its damage with two outs in the third inning. Junior Josh Jung drew one of his two walks on the day to start the rally while a pair of walks behind him to load the bases for Warren. The reigning Big 12 Player of the Week singled to drive in a pair of runs and then sophomore Cody Masters ripped a base hit up the middle to bring in another.

The loss snaps a five-game winning streak for the Red Raiders in Austin that dated back to 2015.
