
Red Raiders Drop First Match of Year Against No. 19 Florida State

The men's tennis team falls to 4-1 on the year with a loss on Saturday
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Texas Tech men's tennis team suffered their first loss of the 2019 spring season with a 1-4 defeat to No. 19 Florida State in Tallahassee on Saturday.
Tech dropped the doubles point after suffering two losses on courts one and three to begin the day.
In singles play, the Red Raiders struggled to swing momentum back in their favor, as all six first sets were taken by the Seminoles.
Parker Wynn secured the first set of the day for Tech, as he bounced back to a 6-1 second set victory after falling behind in the first by a count of 2-6. He would later go on to finish his opponent in a dominant third set at a clip of 6-1 for Tech's lone point in Saturday's match.
Artem Kapshuk, Tommy Mylnikov and Franco Ribero also picked up second set wins in their matches to keep the Red Raiders alive, before ultimately falling.
The Red Raiders will play a consolation match against Tennessee on Sunday. Match time is set for 10 a.m. CT.
