Lady Raiders Handle TCU on Senior Day

Texas Tech to face TCU again on Friday in opening round of Big 12 Tournament
LUBBOCK, Texas – A 48-point second half pushed the Lady Raiders to a 79-64 win over TCU in the regular season finale Monday night.

Texas Tech (13-16, 5-13 Big 12) came out guns blazing in the first quarter, outscoring TCU (12-17, 4-14 Big 12) 20-13.

But the Horned Frogs didn't let up and took the lead off 21 points and six forced turnovers.

Down 34-31 at the half, the Lady Raiders knocked down 16 field goals in the final two quarters to regain the lead and secure the win.

Junior Larryn Brooks tipped the ball away from TCU's AJ Alix late in the third quarter, chased it down and drained a clutch three-pointer to push the Lady Raiders ahead for the rest of the game.

Texas Tech only had three turnovers in the second half, all coming during the fourth period. Â

Three Lady Raiders scored in double figures tonight. Brooks led the team with a career-best 21 points against the Horned Frogs. Senior Ivonne CookTaylor followed with 20 points of her own, marking her second 20-point game of the season.

With the No. 8 seed, the Lady Raiders will face No. 9 seed TCU in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament set for Friday at 6 p.m. in Oklahoma City, Okla. The winner will advance to face No. 1 seed Baylor on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
