Jolan Cailleau has won 10 of his 13 singles matches this fall.
FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – Jolan Cailleau of the Texas Tech men's tennis team will wrap up the fall season with a trip to the prestigious 2016 USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships which begin Thursday at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in the New York.
Cailleau earned the ITA's singles wildcard to the 32-player singles field. It marks the second consecutive year that the Red Raiders have a player at the event hosted at the site of U.S. Open. Hugo Dojas and Felipe Soares captured the doubles championship last season.
Cailleau has dialed up a 10-3 fall record fueled by three wins over ranked opponents. The Belgium native secured a runner-up finish at the ITA Texas Regionals two weeks back. He faces off against Florian Lakat of California who is ranked No. 13 in the nation.
"This is a special event for Jolan to play in," Texas Tech head coach Brett Masi said. "Last year, Felipe and Hugo won the doubles title. I hope much of the same success for Jolan this weekend. He has worked hard starting in the summer and carried that over to the fall. I'm glad he's getting this type of an opportunity. This will definitely give him a good chance to set up a strong spring semester if he can have a good showing."
