Men’s Tennis Heads West to SoCal Intercollegiates for Final Fall Team Tournament

The SoCal Intercollegiates are being hosted by national power Southern Cal this weekend.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Texas Tech men's tennis team will participate in its sixth and final fall team event over the weekend at the SoCal Intercollegiates hosted by the University of Southern Cal.
The 12-team event features nine California programs which include host USC, Azusa Pacific, Cal Poly, Concordia, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Diego, UCLA and UC Santa Barbara. The Red Raiders are joined by BYU and Hawaii in the 60th edition of the five-day tournament which runs through Monday.
Two rounds of singles qualifying get underway on Thursday followed by a pair of doubles rounds on Friday. Jackson Cobb and Carlos DiLaura will participate in singles, while DiLaura and Connor Curry will compete in doubles action.
The 32-player singles main draw already features Curry, Alex Sendegeya, Bjorn Thomson with Sendegeya as the event's No. 8 seed. In the doubles main draw, Sendegeya and Thomson hold the top seed of the 16-team field.
"This will be a great event for us to get a lot of matches in against some quality programs from the west coast," Texas Tech head coach Brett Masi. "It will be nice to see how our players compete against programs we don't typically get to play against. Hopefully, we can build off last week's performance at the ITA Texas Regionals and end the team portion of the fall season on a high note."
Jolan Cailleau earned the ITA's singles wildcard to the ITA National Indoors slated for November 3-6 at the Billy Jean King National Tennis Center in New York. He has posted a 10-3 fall record sparked by a trio of ranked wins and earned a runner-up finish at the ITA Texas Regionals earlier this week. The ITA National Indoors doubles title was won by Texas Tech's Hugo Dojas and Felipe Soares last year.
