TEXAS TECH 74, KANSAS STATE 68 - FINAL (OT)

BRAMLAGE COLISEUM - MANHATTAN - KAN.
Candi Whitaker
Texas Tech Head Coach
Opening Statement
"Great game, I thought, both ways and fun to watch and be a part of and there was a little more scoring this time by both teams. Obviously, a huge win for us to come on the road and walk away with this one is huge. "
On what Tech was able to do offensively today against K-State
"I thought we did a great job understanding their zone and how we were going to attack it. We were patient, and we found seams. We dribble-attacked it more. Last time we looked to pass it a little too much. I thought we did a good job of sharing the basketball and knocking down open shots and kind of countering what their zone does to you. And we had a good day. Rayven Brooks shot it extremely well and a lot of people stepped up and made shots when we needed them to."
On the teams offensive shooting
"I mean it's always more fun when the ball goes in. It's huge to winning and I just really liked how they shared it. There was probably only a couple of shots I didn't like. Just did a great job shooting it with confidence when they were open."
On controlling the pace after Kansas State's run in the last five minutes
"You know you're going in there and they're on a run and you're trying to stop it any way you can. I told them that in the locker room. I just thought they did a great job of not getting down and continuing to fight and then they went on a run and obviously Amber made the shot to give us a chance and I thought we were just very good in overtime."
On log jam in the Big 12 Conference standings and craziness of league this year
"I think it's a lot of fun. Every game is that important. Every game should be that much fun to watch because you never know who is going to win it. We're excited to be back into the jam and give ourselves a chance. Every game is going to determine where you finish."
On winning on the road and impact it has
"Usually every coach is talking about `You've got to protect your home and then steal some.' But I feel like this year in the league, because it's so even and so many games are determined by a couple of plays, that I think every opportunity is a chance to get a win."
On any feeling of how many teams will get in NCAA Tournament
"I don't. It's a different deal. Obviously a lot of people have a lot of different opinions on it. We want as many as can possibly get in. I think people have to understand how tough this league is every single night. There's no bottom five like some of those leagues have where they're just not winning and its two easy wins or one easy win. It's a tough league with great players and great coaches and hopefully they'll give us a lot of respect."
Rayven Brooks
Junior Guard
On what went so well today for her
"Just having confidence every time I shot it. That was pretty much it ... Amber was able to find me or my other teammates were able to find me. We worked a lot on seams and then my teammates found ways to pass it to me."
On Amber bouncing back from her injury to help them win
"She's a warrior. She's Batman."
Amber Battle
Senior Guard
On her ankle and being able to come back in the game
"I tried not to think about it really. I wanted to get back out there and help my team win so just tried not to think about it."
On the final possession in regulation for Tech with a chance to tie the game
"I had a flashback to the last game (against Kansas State) where I had the shot. I just tried to be patient. My post players set a good screen and I was just patient and shot the ball."
