"I think it sets a unique opportunity to play on Thanksgiving night in front of the entire country at a place you haven't won in a long time," Kingsbury said. "If you can't get up for that after having an extended period off, you're probably in the wrong sport."
Texas Tech is coming off a 59-44 victory over Kansas State on Nov. 14 where the Red Raiders became bowl eligible for the 23rd time in the past 25 seasons. DeAndre Washington rushed for a career-high 248 yards and three touchdowns in the win while Patrick Mahomes II threw for 384 yards and three touchdowns, two of which that found Justin Stockton.
The victory completed a successful home slate where Texas Tech averaged a school record 59.4 points per game inside Jones AT&T Stadium. The Red Raiders scored at least 50 points in all six home games, marking the first time in Big 12 Conference history where a school has totaled 50 or more points in at least six home games.
Texas Tech will look to continue that success Thursday night when the Red Raiders and Texas kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT inside Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. The game will be broadcast nationally on FOX Sports 1.
