
Lady Raider Comeback Falls Just Short in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. -- Amber Battle scored 16 points and Dayo Olabode added 14 and 11 rebounds as Texas Tech nearly completed a comeback but fell, 70-64 to Oklahoma on Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center.
Tech (12-7, 2-5 Big 12) erased a 10-point deficit in the second half with a 14-3 run on the heels of seven, 3-pointers, including two by Olabode, to take a 46-44 lead at the 10-minute mark. Then before any Lady Raider could celebrate, the Sooners got back-to-back threes from Sharane Campbell and Gioya Carter to take a 61-55 lead with less than four minutes to play. The Lady Raiders climbed back once again to make it a one possession with 19 seconds to play but Oklahoma hit three of its final four free throws to secure the win.
Olabode posted her fourth double-double of the season - the most by a Big 12 Conference freshman this year. Ivonne CookTaylor scored 10 points off the bench.
Tech went back and forth with the Sooners over the first eight minutes of the first half before Peyton Little ignited an 11-2 run for OU to give the Sooners a 22-14 lead. Then Tech answered with a 10-2 run of its own to tie the game at 24-24 with less than one minute to go in the opening half before Oklahoma scored seven quick points to take a 31-26 lead at the break.
Oklahoma (13-5, 7-0) would extend its lead to 10 out of the break before Tech turned it back with a 14-3 run to take its first lead of the second half at 46-44 with 10:15 to go.
Tech will return home to take on West Virginia at 7 p.m., Wednesday at United Supermarkets Arena.
