LUBBOCK, Texas -- Amber Battle scored a season-high 23 points but Texas Tech could not overcome its poor start as Oklahoma shot 48 percent from the field to help beat the Lady Raiders, 75-58 on Saturday at United Supermarkets Arena.
Tech (11-4, 1-2 Big 12) lost its first home game this season. It was the first loss at the USA since falling to Texas on March 3.
Battle was the only Lady Raider in double figures. She hit only .333 from the field but found ways to get to the free-throw line in the second half and help give Tech a chance. Battle finished the game 9 of 10 from the charity stripe with eight coming in the second half.
Oklahoma (9-5, 3-0) relied heavily on the three ball and its guard play to help build a 20-9 lead nearly midway through the first half. The Sooners hit 62.5 percent in the first eight minutes while the Lady Raiders made only two of their first nine shots from the floor and had three turnovers.
Senior Kelsi Baker and junior Rayven Brooks chipped in eight points each while Baker led the team in rebounds with nine. Freshman Ionna McKenzie set a career-high with seven rebounds and also had three points.
Tech now hits the road for its next two games. The Lady Raiders head east to West Virginia (10-5, 0-3) for a 6 p.m. CT tip on Wednesday before heading south to Austin to take on No. 3 Texas (13-1, 2-1) at noon Saturday.
