OKLAHOMA CITY -- Texas Tech junior Amber Battle scored a game-high 23 points and Ivonne CookTaylor added a career-high 18 but TCU pulled away in the second half with 75-59 win on Friday in the first round of the Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Tech (6-24) took a 34-33 lead at halftime behind a 53-percent shooting performance from the floor and 15 points by Battle.
The teams traded leads 16 times and had 11 ties before TCU (18-10) went on a 14-0 run over a six-minute span to take the lead for good.
Natalie Ventress and Zahna Medley each scored 18 points to lead four players in double figures for TCU.
CookTaylor hit 8 of 10 from the field and scored in double figures for the fifth consecutive games. She's shooting 53.6 percent in those five games while averaging 14 points.
Battle, who was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, scored in double figures 25 times in 30 games this season including nine games with 20 points or more. Her 16.4 points per game average (493 points total) is the most by a Lady Raider in the last eight years.
