AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Tech junior guard Amber Battle scored 16 points and freshman Diamond Lockhart added 12 but Texas used a big first-half run to push past the Lady Raiders, 88-51 on Wednesday at the Frank Erwin Center.
Battle scored in double digits for the 20th time this season and had 15 points or more for the 17th time as she eclipsed 400 points on the year.
Tech (6-16, 0-11 Big 12) found itself with a 6-5 early lead in the first half with Battle and Lockhart leading the way and senior Shauntal Nobles grabbing three of her game high 12 rebounds.
But Texas (15-7, 6-4) turned things around quickly the rest of the half and hit 15 of its next 17 shots (88.2 percent) during a 30-3 run that would put the Longhorns out front for good.
"I think you've got to give them a lot of credit," Tech head coach Candi Whitaker said. "They were making a lot of shots from the perimeter. They've got some great players and some big-time size inside. We wanted to try to protect the best we could from inside out and they were scoring inside, outside, really everywhere."
The Longhorns would keep the same pace throughout the rest of the game and had as much as a 37-point lead while outscoring Tech 48-4 in the paint and hitting 7 of 15 from outside the arc.
Lockhart came off the bench and scored 10 of her 12 points in the first half for her highest career total in Big 12 Conference play. It was the third time in four games that Tech had two players finish with 10 points or more.
"I was really proud to see Diamond not afraid to go make a play," Whitaker said. "All of her shots were very in rhythm and had good tempo to them. She didn't rush them. I thought she did a good job of reading the defense and I'm really proud of her performance."
Tech now turns its attention to a weekend trip to Fort Worth to take on TCU (13-9, 4-6) at 12 p.m. Saturday at Daniel Meyer Coliseum. The game will be broadcast nationally on FOX Sports Net.
