TEXAS TECH vs. BAYLOR
POSTGAME QUOTES
FEB. 12, 2014
Candi Whitaker
Texas Tech Head Coach
Opening Statement
"We made runs at times and we felt like we had a chance at different parts of the ball game. Proud of how these two (Amber Battle and Jasmine Caston) and I thought Minta stepped up and played well and played with a lot of confidence. Baylor is a very good team and Odyssey (Sims) is a tremendous player and I thought that she really made plays right when I thought we were getting going, she would answer and put her team up. But proud that we continued to fight, particularly at home and in front of our fans and just want to keep getting better. Feel like I sound like a broken record because I say that at home a lot but I feel that. I feel like this team continues to work regardless of the record and what the outcome has been."
On difference of game
"I think that we played 100 percent different than we did at Baylor. At Baylor we were very tentative. We didn't really hook it up and play. I thought the feel of our team was totally different. That they wanted to compete and wanted to do whatever they could to give themselves a chance to win."
On Jasmine's game
"I told Jas after the game I thought she played fearless. She was ready to make plays and she stepped up and did that for her team. She was moving well defensively and battling on the rebound with two hands and did a great job."
Junior Guard
On the difference of game at home
"I feel like in Waco we were kind of scared a little bit. And tonight we just came out and played. They're players just like us, and we just went out there and competed."
Freshman guard
On her game
"I felt good. When shots aren't falling obviously you have to keep shooting to get those shots to fall. Once they started falling, I was more confident attacking the basket. You know, I played with some of those big girls, so I know how they play defense, really to say. So I just felt good about going to the rim."
