BAKER'S OVERTIME SURGE
Texas Tech redshirt senior Kelsi Baker scored seven of her 16 points in overtime to help push Texas Tech past Texas State on Tuesday. She was a perfect 2-for-2 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. Baker has now scored in double digits in both starts this season and six of her last seven overall.
BROOKS CAREER HIGH
Texas Tech junior transfer Rayven Brooks scored a Tech career high with 19 points and five rebounds on Tuesday night against Texas State. She hit a high in field goals with seven including three from behind the arc. She also had two blocks and two steals.
SPEARS FROM DOWNTOWN
Texas Tech redshirt sophomore Minta Spears tied a career high with a perfect 4-for-4 showing on 3-pointers vs. Texas State. That matched her high of 3-point field goals made from last season at Arizona (Dec. 15). It was the first time Spears has hit all 3-point attempts in a game when attempting more than two.
FIRST POINTS
Three Texas Tech newcomers scored their first points as Lady Raiders on Tuesday night vs. Texas State. Junior Ryann Bowser (2), redshirt sophomore Jocelyn Mousty (4) and freshman Ionna McKenzie (4). Mousty also had three rebounds and two blocks.
BACK-TO-BACK
Texas Tech won back-to-back games to start the season for the second consecutive year. Tech also won its first back-to-back games since beating Jacksonville and Florida Atlantic on Dec. 20 and Dec. 21 last season.
