TEXAS TECH - BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES
Texas Tech Head Coach Candi Whitaker
On slow starts both halves:
"I think you've got to give Baylor a lot of credit. They're long, they're athletic and they bother you because of that defensively. I thought we played very timid, very scared to start. I thought Marina [Lizarazu] came in and gave us a spark, and she doesn't know Baylor, and you could tell. She just came in and made plays, got to the rim, and found shooters."
On implementing second half play to a full game:
"I think for a span there when they were pressing us, Marina did a great job of finding Amber [Battle] at the top and being aggressive in press break. We got some run-outs that got us some assists and baskets. I think when you play anyone in the Big 12, you've got to compete and be aggressive. There's no other way to play the game."
On what to take moving forward:
"We saw a different side of us. We've just got to learn from it and be ready to go against Kansas. We're playing them for the second time, and I think that's helped us when we've seen a team before. At Iowa State, we were better the second time and I think we'll do better against Kansas the second time as well."
Texas Tech Junior Guard Amber Battle
On what got her going in the second half:
"I was just running the floor more and my point guards found me. I just got those good layups."
On the Baylor defense being frustrating:
"I think it was more us. We were just getting rushed and just now calming down and executing."
On coming into this game after Iowa State last week:
"We kind of fell off a little bit tonight after the Iowa State game last week. We just need to prepare for Kansas and let this one go."
