
Texas Tech Falls in Tight Fight to ASU, 77-62

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- Jonathan Gilling and Jahii Carson each scored 18 points to lead Arizona State to a 77-62 win over Texas Tech on Saturday.
Gilling carried the load in the first half, hitting five of his six career-high 3-pointers, and Carson took over after the break with 16 second-half points.
Carrick Felix added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Sun Devils (10-2), and Evan Gordon had 12 points.
Jaye Crockett led the Red Raiders (5-4) with 11 points and nine rebounds. It was Crockett's first start of the season and the eighth of his career in 71 career game. He has been the Red Raiders' consumate Sixth Man.
Crockett has now led the Red Raiders in scoring and rebounding for eight consecutive games. The last player to lead the team in scoring for eight consecutive games was Andre Emmett, who did it to open the 2003-04 season, when he led the team in scoring for 13 straight games. Crockett is the first player in the Big 12 era for Texas Tech to lead the team in both categories for eight consecutive games. The last Red Raider to lead the team in scoring and rebounding for eight straight games was Mike Russell from Feb. 8, 1977 to March 4, 1977.
Jordan Tolbert and Josh Gray each added 10 points. It was Tolbert's 20th career double digit scoring effort and fourth of the season, while Gray has reached double figures for the seventh time in nine games this season.
Arizona State led by 15 points with a little over nine minutes left in the first half before the Red Raiders fought back within four just minutes into the second half. The Sun Devils extended the lead back to as many as 17 with 2:32 left in the game.
