
Vitor Manzini Defeats Semifinal Opponent at HEB

LUBBOCK, TX - Vitor Manzini, the only Red Raider playing on the final day of the HEB Invitational, won his semifinal match and then lost in the consolation championship.
After dropping his first singles match on Friday, Manzini fought his way through the consolation bracket with a win on the first day and two wins on Saturday. In Sunday's 9:00 a.m. semifinal match, Vitor defeated Maryland's Sergio Wyss, 7-6 (5), 6-2, advancing to the finals of the consolation bracket.
Manzini's final round opponent, Texas A&M's Niall Angus, earlier had downed Baylor's Sergio Ramirez, 7-5, 3-6, 10-8. Angus ended Manzini's bid for the consolation championship, 6-2, 6-0.
Texas Tech's four entrants in the HEB competition at the Baylor Tennis Center tallied seven singles victories and won five of their seven doubles matches.
