Red Raiders Back in Action on Sunday

LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech Red Raiders are back in action at the United Spirit Arena against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Sunday, January 2 for their 2:00 p.m. game with television coverage provided by the Texas Tech Sports Network.
Brian Jensen will deliver the play-by-play and John Harris will provide the game analysis for TTSN. In the Lubbock area, the game will air on AT&T U-verse (28 and 1028), Dish Network (28), and Suddenlink (8). Red Raiders fans outside the Lubbock area should check with their local cable provider for the complete game coverage in their area. The satellite coordinates for the game are Galaxy 17 - Transponder 24K.
The Red Raiders and Islanders game is also available on ESPN Full Court and ESPN3.
Texas Tech has a 2-0 mark in the series which began on November 24, 1999. The last meeting between the two teams was on November 14, 2009. The Red Raiders won at home, 66-59.
The Islanders opened their season with a win at home against Northeastern State before dropping four games. They lost to Texas A&M, at Oklahoma State, at Ohio University, and at Kansas. TAMU-CC downed Bethune-Cookman and then lost to Valparaiso. The Islanders stopped St. Edward's, 77-56, before losing at Marquette, 86-50. After a win in overtime at home over Houston, 81-78, TAMU-CC lost their next two games. On December 20, they fell at Memphis and against Georgia State on December 29. The Islanders are 5-8 for the season after their win over Montreat on December 30, 84-77.
After thirteen games, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has averaged 64.8 points per game while allowing their opponents 74.1 points per game. The Islanders leading scorer and rebounder is Demond Watt. The TAMU-CC senior is averaging 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds for the season.
Texas Tech (6-7) is averaging 76.6 points per contest and allowing opponents 76.1 points per game. The Raiders have five players averaging double figures after thirteen non-conference games. Mike Singletary leads his squad with 13.7 points per game. Brad is next with 13.1 points per contest. John Roberson follows with 12.4 points per game. Robert Lewandowski adds 10.7 points per game. David Tairu chips in 10.1 points per game.
Mark Finkner will call the courtside action against the UTA mavericks along with analyst Andy Ellis on the Texas Tech Sports Network flagship radio station Double T 104.3.
The Red Raiders host the Hornets of Delaware State on January 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the last nonconference game of the season. This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
