Red Raiders Host Mavericks on Wednesday

LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech Red Raiders return to the United Spirit Arena to host the UT Arlington Mavericks on December 22 at 7:00 p.m. with game coverage provided by the Texas Tech Sports Network.
Brian Jensen will deliver the play-by-play and John Harris will provide the game analysis for TTSN. In the Lubbock area, the game will air on AT&T U-verse (13, 753, and 755), DISH Network (13 and 416), DirecTV (676 and 678), and Suddenlink (7 and 20).

The Red Raiders have a 4-0 margin against the Mavericks in a series that began on December 10, 1981. Texas Tech won the last meeting, 80-55, on December 12, 1998.
UT Arlington opened their season with a win at home against Texas Lutheran. The Mavericks dropped their next game at Oregon State, 71-56, before winning four games. They easily stopped UT Tyler (96-56), won at Houston Baptist (74-65), and then won two games at home. In those two games, UTA downed Hardin-Simmons (88-71) and St. Edward's (67-52). Since then, UTA has lost three road games. The Mavs lost at North Texas (87-83), at Samford (68-60), and at Louisiana Tech (62-61).
After nine games, UTA has averaged 74.8 points per game while allowing their opponents 64.1 points per game. The Mavericks have two players averaging double figures for the season. LaMarcus Reed leads his team with 16.1 points per game. Darius Richardson is second on the team with 10.2 points per outing.
Texas Tech (5-6) is averaging 78.5 points per contest and allowing opponents 79.3 points per game. The Raiders have five players averaging double figures after eleven non-conference games. Both Brad Reese and Mike Singletary are averaging 13.1 points per game. John Roberson follows with 13.0 points per game. Robert Lewandowski is the top rebounder on the squad with 6.4 rebounds per game, and he adds 11.4 points per game. David Tairu adds 10.2 points per game.

After the game against UT Arlington, Texas Tech closes out their nonconference season with three home games. The Red Raiders take on the New Mexico Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on December 29. Texas Tech faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 2:00 p.m. on January 2. The Red Raiders host Delaware State on January 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the last nonconference game of the season.
