Escobar Upsets No. 8 Seed: Plays Friday Evening

LUBBOCK, TX - Gonzalo Escobar defeated the No. 8 seed, Chase Buchanan, of Ohio State to become the first Red Raider to advance to the Quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Indoor Championships.
Coach Tim Siegel stated, "Gonzalo played a great match in defeating a top player today. He competed with incredible confidence and once again played very good defense but also picked his spots to attack. He's also the first quarterfinalist for Texas Tech at the Indoor Championships."
Gonzalo won his Round of 32 match over Buchanan, 6-3, 6-4, and will play Alexandre Lacroix, of the University of Florida, on Friday evening.
