The Red Raiders
Texas Tech enters the final week of regular-season play with an 11-6-1 overall record and 4-4-1 in the Big 12 after beating Iowa State, 3-2, in overtime last Friday and losing to Missouri, 5-2, on Sunday. On the year, freshman Jessica Fuston leads the team in points with 22, goals with 10, shots with 49 and shots-on-goal with 29. Freshman Jessica Disabella has a team-high six assists. Junior Taylor Lytle is second on the team in points with 13 as she has five assists and four goals. Fuston has a team-best four game-winning goals. Junior Casey McCall leads the team in minutes played with 1,641. Senior Colleen Pitts and sophomore Erin Wikelius have both seen time in the nets with Wikelius playing 881:24 minutes with 37 saves and allowing 13 goals for a 1.33 goals-against average. She is 5-3-1 with four shutouts. Pitts has played 766:50 minutes with 41 saves, while allowing nine goals for a 1.06 goals-against average. Pitts is 6-3 with six shutouts.
The Opponent
Baylor is 10-7-2 overall and 3-6 in the Big 12 heading into the last week of conference play after losing to both Missouri, 2-0, on Friday and Iowa State, 1-0, on Sunday in Waco. On the year, sophomore Lisa Sliwinski has team highs of seven goals, five assists, 38 shots and 20 shots-on-goal. Sophomore Hanna Gilmore also has a team-best seven goals. Junior Courtney Seelhorst has played almost the entire season in goal with 1681:42 minutes of play. She has collected 65 saves while allowing 16 goals with a 0.86 goals-against average. Seelhorst has a 10-7-2 record with seven shutouts. Head Coach Marci Jobson is in her third season at the helm of the Bears with a record of 23-23-10. She is also in her sixth season as a head coach with a career record of 46-50-19.
Series Record
It is the 15th meeting between Texas Tech and Baylor with the Bears holding a 10-4 advantage over the Red Raiders. However, Tech has won the last four games, including a 1-0 win last year on Oct. 2, in Lubbock. The last time the Red Raiders won in Waco was on Oct. 26, 2007, in a 2-1 victory. Baylor's last win came on Oct. 21, 2005, a 3-1 triumph in Waco. Tech is 1-5 against the Bears in Waco.
Looking Ahead
For the fourth-straight year and the sixth time in Big 12 history, Texas Tech will compete in the Big 12 Championship Nov. 3, 5 and 7, at Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.

School Record for Shutouts
Texas Tech has recorded 10 shutouts this year which is a school record for most shutouts in a season. The previous record was eight in 1994 and 1995.
First Winning Season Since 1996
The win over Kansas guaranteed the Red Raiders their first winning season since 1996 when they finished 13-8. Tech stands 11-6-1 with one regular-season game remaining.
Fuston Scores First Hat Trick
Freshman Jessica Fuston scored her first hat trick of her Red Raider career as she scored all three goals for Texas Tech in its 3-2 overtime win over Iowa State. Only seven minutes into the game, junior Taylor Lytle turned her player and slipped Fuston in behind the ISU backline for a breakaway. Fuston, who had an historic night for the Red Raiders, slotted the keeper to her shooter's left and Tech had the lead 1-0. In the 50th minute, sophomore Sarah Ellison got down the flank, beat her defender and served a low serve across the face of the goal. Fuston was in position again on the serve just inside her defender and headed it home to push Tech ahead, 2-1. In overtime (96th minute) senior Leanne Mihelich toe-poked the ball on goal with some pace. The bullet shot rebounded off the Iowa State goalkeeper and fell again to Mihelich who slipped the ball over to Fuston who capped her fabulous outing with the game winner in overtime. The goals were her eighth, ninth and 10th of the year - a team best.
Another Assist for Lytle
Junior Taylor Lytle got her fifth assist of the year and the 24th of her career which put her just two away from tying the school record for career assists. Kristy Frantz (1996-99) holds the school record with 26.
Disabella Picks Up Two Assists vs. Mizzou
Freshman Jessica Disabella picked up two assists against Missouri to give her a team-best six assists on the year.
Third Goal for McCall
For the second time in three games and the third time this season, junior defender Casey McCall scored another goal for the Red Raiders. In her previous two years, McCall had scored just one goal each season but this year she has had her first multi-goal season. McCall scored her first goal of the year against Colorado and then had one against Kansas and Missouri.
Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, Again
Freshman Jessica Fuston received her second Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honor on Oct. 19, as she scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season when she headed in a corner kick from junior Taylor Lytle for the game-winning goal against Kansas. It was her third game-winning game of the year, which is tied with Lytle to lead the team.
Lytle Returns to Lineup
Junior Taylor Lytle returned to the lineup for the first time in eight games. After suffering an ankle injury on Sept. 10 vs. North Texas, Lytle missed the Oral Roberts match and then played sparingly the next seven games. She collected two assists in the game against Kansas.
Wikelius Notches Fourth Shutout
Entering the season, sophomore goalkeeper Erin Wikelius had not recorded a shutout in her career, but now has notched four this year alone. The four stand tied for seventh on Tech's single season list for shutouts.
McCall's Minutes
Junior Casey McCall has played all but seven minutes in Tech's 1,641 minutes this season. The junior defender is one of three players to start all 18 matches this year.
Fuston Tallies Five Points Against Huskers
Freshman Jessica Fuston collected five points in the overtime loss to Nebraska as she netted two goals and picked up an assist. It was the third time this season for a multi-goal game as she scored twice versus TCU in the season opener and twice at Rice.
Yacullo Named a CS360 Primetime Performer
Freshman Mallory Yacullo scored her first collegiate goal in exciting fashion and was named a CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer for it. Trailing 4-2 against Nebraska, freshman Jessica Fuston scored on a penalty kick with under two and half minutes to go to put the score 4-3. With under 10 seconds to go, junior Madison Terry served a driven ball to the back post and junior Casey McCall challenged hard for the cross and got enough on it to get to the far post where Yacullo came flying in to hammer home the tying goal just as the clock hit zero, sending the game into overtime.
McCall Scores First Goal
Junior Casey McCall scored her first goal of the season and the third of her career in the win over Colorado. In the sixth minute of play, McCall hammered one in from six yards out with her head on a corner kick from freshman Jessica Disabella. It was McCall's first career game-winning goal. It was also Disabella's fourth assist of the year.
Another Shutout for Pitts
Senior Colleen Pitts picked up her sixth shutout of the season in the 1-0 win over Colorado. Pitts played all 90 minutes in the nets and registered five saves. The six shutouts ranks second on Texas Tech's single season list. Standing in first is Tina Rincon with eight. Pitts now has nine shutouts in her career, which is fourth best all-time at Tech.
Season-High Attendance
Texas Tech soccer has become a big hit around the Lubbock community, especially in the last couple of years, and it was evident again this year. Tech had a season-high 1,643 fans at the match against Colorado. The Red Raiders averaged 1,192 fans per game this season.
Ward Scores Fourth Goal
Sophomore Dawn Ward got her fourth goal of the season as she scored the first of three goals for the Red Raiders in the win at Oklahoma. The goal gives her 17 in her career and she needs just one more goal to move into a tie for fifth on Tech's career goals list.
First Career Assist for Fuston
After scoring four goals this season, freshman Jessica Fuston got her first career assist on sophomore Dawn Ward's goal at Oklahoma in the Big 12 season opener.
Big Game for Smith at OU
Sophomore Tiffini Smith had a big game in the victory at Oklahoma as she collected three points on the night. Smith was credited with the assist in freshman Jessica Disabella's goal in the 23rd minute and then scored her first goal of the season in the 61st minute to secure the win for the Red Raiders.
A Season of Firsts
After starting the season off 5-0, the Red Raiders have already made their marks in the record books. The 5-0 start is the best in school history against Division I opponents and to go along with those five wins have been five shutouts. The five shutouts is the first time in the program's history that a Tech team began the season with five-consecutive shutouts.
All-Tournament Team, Again
Texas Tech had six players honored for their play during the Red Raider Classic Sept. 10 and 12. Sophomore Haley Fowler was named the Defensive MVP, while sophomore Erin Wikelius took home Goalkeeper MVP honors. Four other Red Raiders were named to the all-tournament team - junior Taylor Lytle, sophomores Sarah Ellison and Tiffini Smith and freshman Jessica Disabella. It was Lytle's second all-tournament team selection this season.
Disabella Scores First Collegiate Goal
It took almost 85 minutes to get the game-winning goal, but that's exactly what freshman Jessica Disabella did against North Texas. It marked the first collegiate goal for the Flower Mound, Texas, native. She followed it up in the next game with an assist on the game-winning goal against Oral Roberts. It was her third assist on the year.
Ellison Notches Third Goal
Sophomore Sarah Ellison notched her third goal of the season and her first career game-winning goal against Oral Roberts, which came in the 56th minute of the match.
Disabella Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week
Freshman Jessica Disabella was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the week for her performances against North Texas and Oral Roberts. Disabella totaled three points on the weekend as the Red Raiders improved to 7-1 and notched their sixth and seventh shutouts of the season. The midfielder secured her first collegiate goal on Friday, the game-winner in the 84th minutes as Tech edged North Texas, 1-0. On Sunday, she provided the assist for the game-winning goal as the Red Raiders defeated Oral Roberts, 1-0.
All-Tournament Team
Three Red Raiders graced the All-Tournament team at the Inn at Saint Mary's Classic hosted by Notre Dame. Junior Taylor Lytle, sophomore Dawn Ward and freshman Hayley Haagsma were all honored for their stellar performances that weekend.
Moving on Up
Junior Taylor Lytle continues to move up the charts on Tech's career lists. Lytle jumped to second on Tech's career shots list with 184. Her 50 career points is fifth all-time. She is just two assists shy of tying the school record for career assists. Her game-winning goal against Ole Miss gives her five in her career, which ranks tied for fourth all-time. That goal also gave her 13 career goals, moving her to 10th (tied) on the career goals list. Sophomore Dawn Ward also jumped to sixth on the career goals list as she has scored four goals this season.
Receiving Votes for the First Time
Another first in the history of the program took place the week of Aug. 30, as Tech received votes in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings (top 25 poll). Tech got 14 votes in the poll which is voted on by a panel of Division I college coaches. Tech also received votes on Sept. 7 and Sept. 14.
Big 12 Newcomer of the Week
Freshman Jessica Fuston was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the week for her performances at Northwestern State and Rice. Fuston started both of Texas Tech's matches last weekend and played all 90 minutes at Rice. The freshman forward scored her third and fourth goals of the season on Sunday against the Owls and is tied for third in the conference with eight total points.
First Half Goals Tied for Second
Freshman Jessica Fuston's two first-half goals against TCU and Rice are tied for second on the single-game list for first half goals. The record for most goals in the first half is three set by Chessa Purser against Prairie View A&M in 2006 and Brittney Harrison versus Northwestern State in 2008.
Fuston Earns Honors
Freshman forward Jessica Fuston made her collegiate debut Aug. 20 and 22, and her standout efforts did not go unnoticed. The Cedar Park, Texas, native garnered TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week honors. Fuston was the only Big 12 player named to that week's team.
Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
Senior goalkeeper Colleen Pitts received her first Big 12 honor as she was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 24, for her performances against TCU and Texas State. Pitts recorded two shutouts as she played all 90 minutes in both matches and tallied 10 saves on the weekend.
Lytle, McCall Named Captains
Tom Stone has called upon two juniors to lead this team as Taylor Lytle and Casey McCall have been named team captains for the 2010 season.
Lytle Preseason All-Big 12
After a stellar sophomore campaign, junior Taylor Lytle looks to continue on her success into 2010 as she was named preseason All-Big 12. Last season, Lytle became only the school's second player all-time to be named first team All-Big 12, while breaking the school's single-game and single-season assist records.
