
Four Red Raiders Head to Baylor Intercollegiate

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis hits the road again this weekend for the Baylor Intercollegiate in Waco, Texas, Sept. 25-27.
Representing the Red Raiders will be sophomores Gonzalo Escobar and Rafael Garcia, and freshmen Raphael Pfister and Andre Stabile. It will be the first collegiate tournament for Garcia and Stabile, and the first for Escobar this season. Pfister competed in The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas, last weekend and won the singles consolation draw. Pfister enters the weekend with a 5-1 singles record.
Last season, Escobar finished the year with a 15-12 overall record, including a 5-4 mark in tournament action. He also posted a 16-8 record in doubles play.
After the Baylor Intercollegiate, Tech sophomore Raony Carvalho will head to Tulsa, Okla., to play in the main draw of singles at the ITA All-American Tennis Championship Oct. 8-11. Carvalho, who is preseason No. 25 in the country, begins his sophomore campaign after a stellar freshman year where he was named All-Big 12 singles and doubles and was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year.
