LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior Gilbert Limo was named the Big 12 Cross Country Runner of the Week for the first time in his career after winning the Texas Tech Open last week.
Limo won the Texas Tech Open with a time of 23:23.30 and helped pace the Red Raiders to the team title. It is the second-straight meet the junior has won after leading the team to a win at the Texas Tech Ruidoso Open two weeks ago. It is the first award for a Tech runner this season.
"It is a great recognition for a student-athlete that has been working hard," head coach Jon Murray said.
Tech cross country will run in the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree next Sat., Oct 3rd, in Stillwater, Okla.
